Making a difficult subject feel safe, approachable and manageable is the provider’s distinctive strength, according to attendees. They consistently praise knowledgeable, empathetic trainers who explain clearly, invite discussion and create supportive, non-judgemental spaces. Courses combine practical frameworks, realistic conversations, workbooks, videos and useful resources, with a well-judged pace and breaks. Attendees leave more confident about recognising risk, asking direct questions and supporting people in real situations at work and beyond.

These sorts of courses should be mandatory, not just for call assessors and supervisors, but all grades of staff both clinical and non-clinical. The ambulance service should be leading the way into implementing these courses to all staff

Generally good, but a lot that I would already know from experience.

The session was not what I expected, i expected to be taught more about what we can do for people ourselves, not just referring them on. There is very limited access to mental health support in wales and the waiting lists are long, even if we do notice the signs we are not always able to get help for weeks. I think more suicided awareness training should be available for call handlers, especially 111 as we are only taught barley the basics on what to say when people call us straggling with self harm etc

Glad I attended, gave me more awareness of the signs to watch out for and how to 'start a conversation'

The course itself is beneficial to re-cap on the mental wellbeing of the persons needs, musts thoughts and how to approach it. It has allowed me to have this knowledge in the back of my mind to help with future circumstances.
