The first day was very disappointing and I would have only given 1 star however Max pulled the 2nd day out of the bag to make up for it

Day 2 v good day 1 was limited to reading the stat guidance on screen

I think the course would have benefited from more case studies and exercises. A lot of the mid morning / early afternoon content was reading from the manual and this could have been done as pre reading. The session where we all discussed reports was much more useful and interesting.

The course is a good starting point for very new managers, that have perhaps had little experience.

Although very knowledgeable with years of experience, the trainer referred to the handouts the whole time. No independent slides had been created by the trainer (which previous trainers from units 3 and 4 had done) This would have helped to provide interest through the use of practical examples experienced by herself. Sharing of such experiences/examples of past cases helps the course be more engaging and memorable. I found the course hard to follow as we kept flitting from one course book to another on the screen. Also the page numbers didn't match. Day 2 was more interesting when we watched clips of witnesses speaking at hearings from previous cases. This helped cement the learnings provided and I feel we would have benefitted more from this. The time we spent doing role play in the coroners court was also very useful and enjoyable. As with all the assignments this assignment is very long and the questions are difficult to understand as to what is actually required when completing your answer.

The questions in the exercises need more clarity.

I feel so much better equipped in my role as an expert witness in family proceedings as a result of doing this course. The trainer was exceptionally knowledgeable and the case study discussions were very helpful for developing my knowledge and understanding of the nuances of the guidelines. However, at times (particularly on the second day) I found the pace of navigation required to find my way around the the different procedure documents and practice directions very overwhelming. It was very clear that the trainer knew the materials like the back of her hand and so could navigate and refer to them at speed. However, being new to the materials I found this very difficult. I would have really benefitted from some tangible guidance as to how to practically navigate my way around the materials and if I were to do it again, I would definitely have made sure that I had thoroughly read all of the materials prior to the course. To my mind (and maybe this is my cognitive profile) navigation only felt possible in some cases if you knew already what you were looking for and the right question to ask.

I feel I wasn't comfortable enough to partake fully throughout the course following an individual incident that occurred during the first morning , I recognise and appreciate the feedback I was given however some tact and empathy would have gone a long way for me personally and from that moment I no longer felt comfortable speaking up within the group, however, I did learn things from the course materials and notes taken

Alot to cover in 1 session, not specific to work as an EMI was confusing as aimed at AHO's who have knowledge of the type of case studies and processes.

The course provided an excellent opportunity for different stakeholders within HMRC FIS to discuss the drafting and assurance process of Court Orders. I feel that a greater focus at a higher level would have been far more beneficial.
