Great to learn about the ways in which you can speak to people in these vulnerable situations in order to get the best help for them

It was an interesting course that has widened my knowledge of terms and how to deal with someone who may be showing suicide behaviour

I was extremely impressed with the course which exceeded my expectations. The tutor was excellent and certainly knew her subject very well. She contextualised the course materials which were relevant and well detailed which is crucial for me being able to settle into a course. There were just 6 people who attended, but for me this enhanced my experience in the quality of learning and interaction because of my learning and processing style. As an Autistic and Neurodivergent person, I would prefer to select an option of fewer people in a workshop (if there was a choice) as it gave the flexibility for inclusivity. I generally prefer face to face training as it helps with my learning style, but in fact this training was such good quality, I didn't mind it being online. I enjoyed the range of personal and professional backgrounds and experiences from the participants which enhanced my own learning and knowledge. If it had been very specific as in just delivered to a single organisation I'm not sure that I would have learned as much from the other participants or the discussions have been as enriched as they were, so a mixed class was perfect. I'd highly recommend that people do this course despite what suicide awareness training they may already have had as it really does set out a First Aid approach which keeps yourself and the person you are supporting safe. I was very shocked to learn that Suicide Awareness training is not mandatory for health and care settings and do hope this can change in the near future.
