This course really helped me to see that it is ok to talk about suicide and that the tools that we can use are the same ones we would employ to talk to people about other issues they may be facing in life. It gave me more confidence that I would be able recognise and to support someone if they were having thoughts of suicide.

This was good for me in my volunteer work and my day to day job it gave me areas to work on and explore

I feel much better about the topic of suicide now. I work with young people and their carers and they are a vulnerable group being LGBT. It's good to know how to help and also how to hand it over appropriately. I love the first aid approach. I love that a past suicide behaviour which resulted in a hospital attendance can be reframed as a the person's strength and ability to find safety and not a "failure" of their "attempt"...they were successful in living.

This was a really valuable workshop, delivered really well by Alison, that was made all the more beneficial through the shared experiences of many of the other people on the session. I have taken a lot from this and will look to filter this information through to others.
