A safe, compassionate approach makes this difficult subject accessible: attendees value knowledgeable, empathetic trainers who create space for honest discussion without pressure. I was a bit apprehensive about attending the course as I didn't know what to expect and suicide seems to be something I would previously have found difficult to talk about. But Alison dispelled a lot of myths and detailed the role of suicide first aiders so I now feel a lot more confident about approaching anyone who may be thinking about suicide.

I felt that it was engaging, and that even though it is a heavy subject to talk about I felt that Julie had a relaxing and reassuring approach which engaged us all. Everyone joined in conversation and asked many questions, which Julie always made time to answer. I feel that this training is vital in all services, and should be provided as fundamental training in every work/school space.
