Overall, I found the course interesting and engaging. It covered useful principles around statement and report writing, and I feel it will support my general writing practice going forward. However, I was hoping for more content tailored specifically to DVSA requirements. It would have been particularly beneficial to include examples and guidance using the documents we regularly produce, such as Section 9 statements, Traffic Examiner visit reports, and Public Inquiry reports. This would have helped bridge the gap between general writing skills and how they are applied within our role. The trainer was very good—she was approachable, patient, and supportive throughout the session, which made the learning environment positive and easy to engage with. Overall, a useful course, but incorporating more DVSA-specific material would make it even more relevant and impactful.
I have supported staff and recognised that we don't have the skills or knowledge and this day has really given me food for thought on how we can produce guidance for staff and leaders to ensure they are prepared.
