It was an absolute privilege to have a defence barrister that is so experienced be able to speak to us. I am an experienced officer and am quite comfortable with court, however I have such a better understanding of processes, decision making and principles that I did not understand at all beforehand. I think this course will only help me be a better interviewer and investigator and it was such a rare opportunity and insight. I'll probably use the knowledge I learned today the most in my career!

A really enjoyable and informative day which was very interactive.

I believe this course is an integral part of policing. We complete a number of training sessions on getting a case to court but then almost no training on what to do when you are called to give evidence. I feel that without this course we can only expect that cases are lost because of a lack of knowledge which can be picked apart by trained solicitors.

Very engaging and thought provoking course. Many thanks to the supremely knowledgable Karen who was able to cover any and all issues relating to not just an officers attendance in court, but really what prosecutors (and defence) are looking for in general practice with relation to criminal investigations. Thank you also to Geraint who led the first part of our practical day and gave some valuable insight.

I found the negotiation training to be highly engaging and insightful. The session provided practical strategies for handling challenging conversations, especially with difficult or manipulative individuals. I particularly appreciated the focus on active listening, assertive communication, and maintaining professionalism under pressure. The real-life scenarios and role-play exercises helped reinforce key concepts and made the learning experience interactive and relevant to our daily work. I feel more confident in approaching negotiations with clarity and control, and I believe the tools shared will be valuable in improving outcomes and building stronger relationships. Thank you for organizing such a well-structured and impactful session.

Excellent course that will hopefully never be needed but if it ever is I will have the skills to stand the best chance of delivering my evidence with more confidence and in the best way possible. Thank you.
