John’s skill at putting class at ease first class. Was respectful, knowledgeable and used humour appropriately. Including very useful knowledge on anaphylaxis, child cpr principles.

I was incredibly disappointed by the course facilitator. I lost count of the occasions where the facilitator demonstrated a fundamental lack of understanding of core anatomy and physiology concepts. He also demonstrated a distinct lack of real world resuscitation experience. I was disappointed by his approach to some of the other course attendees when they made mistakes or did not understand something which was very condescending. I felt that the difficulties that two of the course attendees had, who both had very limited resuscitation experience, was reflective of poor delivery of the lecture content. During these sessions the facilitator spent so much time making jokes and delivering loosely relevant anecdotes that the education delivery was compromised. Fundamentally this course was a prime example of my concerns around the conflict between national requirements for resuscitation education and the commercialisation of this training industry which seems to promote the use of inadequately qualified and experienced individuals to deliver courses that offer no actual clinical or educational value and serve merely to 'tick the box' of staff having completed an accredited course.
