Comments on the trainer: Sue was absolutely superb. She took her time to explain the law clearly and thoroughly, guiding us through how to locate legislation, interpret it, and understand the differences between various types of law. Her explanations were structured, practical, and easy to follow, which made even the more complex areas feel manageable. She engaged brilliantly with the real-life examples we shared, using them to show how legal principles apply in practice. This made the sessions feel relevant and it genuinely strengthened our understanding. Sue’s ability to connect theory to real-world situations was one of the highlights of the course. Throughout the sessions, she was extremely patient, knowledgeable, kind, approachable, and consistently clear. No question ever felt too small or too complicated — she always took the time to ensure we understood, offering detailed answers and additional guidance whenever needed. Her teaching style created a supportive learning environment where everyone felt comfortable participating. I’m truly glad I enrolled on the course; Sue’s dedication, expertise, and willingness to provide as much information as possible made the experience both valuable and enjoyable.

I found the course to be exceptionally well delivered and thoroughly engaging. Sue's interpersonal and presentation skills were outstanding. As a qualified lawyer, she has an impressive ability to translate what can often be highly complex legislative frameworks, case law and legal terminology into clear, pragmatic and accessible explanations without losing the nuance or legal precision. Her teaching style encouraged discussion and critical thinking, and the sessions developed organically rather than feeling scripted or rushed. Both Sue and Steve were consistently approachable, supportive and accommodating throughout the programme, creating an environment where questions and differing perspectives were genuinely welcomed. Steve's contribution brought an invaluable practice perspective. His extensive experience as a practising Best Interests Assessor added depth to the legal teaching by illustrating how the legislation is applied in real-world situations. His candid discussion of common pitfalls, practical challenges and professional judgement was particularly valuable and helped bridge the gap between theory and practice. Overall, the balance between Sue's legal expertise and Steve's practical experience made for an excellent learning experience. The course was intellectually stimulating, professionally relevant and delivered with enthusiasm, humility and a genuine commitment to helping delegates succeed. I would have no hesitation in recommending the course to colleagues.

The course has been so well run and well structured, such a lot of information at the time the rulings changed. I have found the course to be so interesting, good pace for reflection, good interactions and setting the task of small groups preparing a power point presentation to deliver to the group, gain feedback and continue, handing back to tutor, who will ensure we all have a copy, such a great idea to share learning and validate what we have learned. I have thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this course thank you so much ! I would like to thank Sue, our trainer, such a thoughtful approach, how she managed to teach the new ruling as clearly as she did explaining what the changes are and how they will affect practice. She managed to guide and navigate the class through the history and the changes and the way forwards, her knowledge was so impressive and i am so glad that I had this opportunity to have this training. thank you so much Sue.

Overall, the course has been very good with the two resource persons sharing their knowledge and expertise with us. Although, intense, I am extreme happy to be among the first group to train after Cheshire West ''was put to bed'' in the Supreme Court ruling on the ''Acid Test'' in the case of AGNI [2026] UKSC.
