The course tutor is the reason that this course works so well. She is extremely knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about the subject matter. She has the ability to make the course materials relatable and understandable.
It's a lot of content to cover and digest in a short space of time. The activities are a helpful learning tool, but I didn't really feel I got to engage with them in depth and make best use of them. Though appreciate the course is catering to a variety of needs/ levels/ areas of interest. I find the Notes structure a bit hard to follow sometimes - can be unclear how/whether subsections relate to each other and the overall topic for each Part. Also not always immediately obvious how the Learning Outcomes link to the content. However, on balance, it's a pretty comprehensive introduction and overview.
Good, but IT comms were an issue (Connectivity, sound levels/clarity). James is an engaging and knowledgeable trainer.
Course information needs updating in certain areas as instructor had to correct what the documents were saying sometimes
well structured and well laid out course. The week in between lessons allowed further reading and wasn't bombarded with learning. Well delivered by the tutor. And displayed superb knowledge, experience and a passion for the subject.
This foundation certificate is a great introduction to environmental management and an opportunity to set you up for the PIEMA. The work book provides you with plenty of information and reading. The presentation delivered by the trainer (James) was very informative with plenty of opportunities to refer to the learner notes and learner workbook. Overall this was a positive learning experience even though it was delivered 100% through Teams and the days can feel quite long but good breaks were factored in. Some of the course materials need updating and these were pointed out to James as part of the training he delivered.
I have very much enjoyed this course and learned a lot!. I did struggle with the all day element over a 5 day period over teams. My preference has always been classroom based learning. This is no reflection upon James teaching style however. He 'knows his onions' within the industry and has been able to share his knowledge in a comprehensive way.
Obviously online course have their limitations so would have preferred face to face, but that option wasn't available. James was an engaging fasciitator and did his best online. The content was good and engaging. It was a little dated (2021) and at times, particularly in the more dense topics, would prefer more case studies that we could relate the information to.
Dip was a fantastic instructor, made the course enjoyable.
