Forest School reviews

4.8 (127 reviews)
AI summary of reviews

Practical, real-life scenarios give attendees opportunities to practise first aid, make mistakes safely and build confidence for situations at work, particularly in forest-school settings. They describe the trainer as knowledgeable, patient, approachable and entertaining, with clear explanations, relevant stories, discussion and a well-balanced mix of theory and hands-on learning. The content is comprehensive, engaging and easy to retain, though several attendees would prefer a warmer venue with genuine woodland space for scenarios.

Good recap of general first aid requirements plus good examples of scenarios in the forest and implementing the first aid knowledge we have. Wooded area not entirely suitable for outdoor work but we improvised

Great course, very informative. Danny was really friendly and helpful. It would have been more helpful if the information email included resources needed to bring along on the day, such as waterproofs. Also a contact number for the trainer on the day for emergencies.

Response: Hi Hayley, thank you for your feedback. I shall pass this along to the team and we will look into this for future courses

Fantastic course and really good trainer who was knowledgeable and interesting. It could possibly tailored more towards likely injuries at Forest School rather than in outdoor activities in general. However, it's good to have that knowledge and if I ever witness a chainsaw injury I'll know what to do!

Response: Hi Tracey, thank you for your feedback! We will take this into consideration for our future courses.

Thank you for the Forest School/Paediatric First Aid Course this weekend at Merrist Wood College, I have found it to be incredibly informative, engaging, and well paced, good attention to detail with regards to simulating outdoor scenarios, up to date equipment and changes in effective first aid, also the instructor was talented at explaining more about how certain parts of the body work which really made it interesting and gave me a greater understanding as to why types/ techniques of first aid are applied. Please say a big thank you from myself.

I thoroughly enjoyed the course. The info delivered was clear and concise, relevant to our needs as Forest School Leaders and a good mix of classroom and outdoor learning. I feel much more confident now following the training. Andy had a cheerful and pleasant manner, ensuring that everyone was involved and used humour well to discuss some difficult topics. Highly recommended!
