The Faraday Centre P3 Advanced Protection course was strongly focused on the practical application of transformer protection rather than extended theoretical coverage. The course provided hands-on experience in configuring and validating protection settings on ABB, Schneider, SEL, and Siemens relays. Exercises covered key transformer and feeder protection functions. The practical approach to navigating different relay platforms and implementing equivalent protection philosophies across multiple manufacturers was particularly valuable. This significantly improved my understanding of how protection principles are translated into vendor-specific settings and logic. Overall, the course was well structured, technically rigorous, and directly applicable to professional protection engineering work. I will recommend booking a course with Faraday.

The course has been informative and enjoyable. Having the opportunity to test the variety of devices in a classroom environment has been invaluable.

Good course maybe too much on the relay testing. Perhaps do two full ones and then just a familiarization on two others.

Consider adding extra units for differential and generator protection.

Lecturer was very knowledgeable of the protection subject which really helped, as discussed some transformer diffs and generator protection would be a good addition to the course or add a top course

The course was not what I thought it would be, I was hoping for more in depth look into more advanced protection systems (transformer diff distance protection etc.) but was only read information from a PowerPoint for a few hours and gave an exam on it. The rest of the week we were given a very repetitive task and a guide to follow. There where countless mistakes on the test schedule given and when we told the lecturer about these issues he didn’t seem too bothered and where told to just continue as it says.
