About this course
This 2 day, Mental Health First Aid England course, enables people to develop the knowledge and skills to become a mental health first aider. The course explores what support can be given to a person experiencing poor mental health, or a mental health crisis, using a holistic, person-centred approach. Just like physical first aid, this course does not teach people to be professionals (therapist, councillors or diagnosticians) but instead enables them to signpost to appropriate services or to provide support until professional help arrives.
What you will learn
As a mental health first aider you will be able to:
• Explain what mental health is
• Describe how to look after your own mental health and wellbeing
• Explain some of the risk factors associated with poor mental health.
• Demonstrate how to apply ALGEE in a mental health first aid conversation
• Describe the role of a mental health first aider.

It was very helpful. It allowed me to consider things from another perspective which is invaluable. Thank you Gary for a great course
Really informative course covering what mental health is and exploring particular mental health problems that people might experience. We learnt useful skills and tools for managing mental health conversations both for within and outside of the workplace. There were plenty of opportunities for open discussion and to ask questions.
