Optimal States for Performance

Training the Mind and Nervous System for Sustained High Performance

Many professionals believe high performance is primarily a question of effort. Work harder, stay focused longer, push through fatigue. Yet the most consistent performers across fields understand something different. Performance is deeply connected to internal state. When the mind is scattered, overloaded, or fatigued, even the most capable people struggle to think clearly and make good decisions. When the mind and nervous system are regulated and focused, clarity and effectiveness become far easier to access. Optimal States for Performance explores how professionals can learn to recognise, access, and sustain the mental states that support clear thinking, strong focus, and effective action. This one day programme introduces practical techniques drawn from performance psychology, neuroscience, and elite performance environments that help individuals operate with greater clarity and control during demanding work.

Rather than relying on motivation or willpower alone, participants learn how to regulate attention, energy, and emotional responses so performance becomes both more precise and more sustainable.
This experience combines concise science with practical application. Participants explore how cognitive load, stress responses, and emotional regulation influence performance, and they learn practical techniques that can be applied immediately in real professional situations.

Participants learn how to stabilise their internal state when pressure rises, how to reduce mental noise and distraction, and how to sustain focus during complex or demanding work. They also explore how energy management, recovery, and daily habits influence long term cognitive performance. The objective is simple. Help individuals access the mental conditions that allow them to think clearly, act intentionally, and sustain high quality performance over time.

Why Our Courses Are Different

Optimal States for Performance reflects our signature approach: experiential, practical, and designed for immediate application. Participants learn through guided exercises, real scenarios, reflection, and structured dialogue rather than long lectures or heavy slide decks. Theory is concise and purposeful, always in service of practice.
We work with both the mind and the nervous system. The methods draw from neuroscience, behavioural science, breathwork, and elite performance psychology. Participants experience the techniques directly so they can understand not only the theory behind performance states but also how those states can be intentionally accessed and trained.
The result is a learning experience that feels practical, grounded, and directly relevant to everyday professional challenges.

Who Should Attend

• Senior leaders and executive teams
• Professionals working in cognitively demanding or high responsibility roles
• Teams operating in complex or fast moving environments
• Individuals seeking to strengthen focus, clarity, and sustainable performance

Who Are the Trainers

Optimal States for Performance is delivered by Federica Ceresa and Chad Fahlberg.
Federica brings more than two decades of experience in organisational development, leadership, and performance improvement. She has worked with organisations across sectors including financial services, healthcare, government, and global consumer brands, helping leaders strengthen clarity, resilience, and organisational culture.
Chad integrates neuroscience, mindfulness, and breathwork into practical tools designed for demanding professional environments. Drawing on experience in high pressure settings, he focuses on helping individuals regulate their internal state so they can maintain calm, clarity, and focus when pressure rises.
Together they create a grounded, experiential learning environment where participants learn through practice, reflection, and meaningful dialogue.
